PIPELINE ENGINEERING

Pipeline engineering is a specialized field of engineering that deals with the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of pipelines that transport fluids, gases, and slurries. Pipeline engineers ensure the safe and efficient transportation of various substances, such as oil, natural gas, water, and wastewater, over long distances.

Nearly all of our existing power sources are generators which use a heat cycle. This includes our coal, oil, and gas fired utilities, our automobiles, trucks, and trains, and even our nuclear fission utility power plants.

Our Pipeline Service Includes

  • Ensuring 100% pipeline integrity and stability
  • Managing pipeline construction and installation
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Operating and maintaining pipeline systems
  • Designing pipeline routes and layouts.

What our Engineers Do:

If you’re wondering what a pipeline engineer does, you’re not alone. Pipeline engineers play a critical role in ensuring that our nation’s energy infrastructure is running smoothly.

  • Pipeline networks for transportation and distribution
  • Oil and gas pipelines
  • Chemical and petrochemical pipelines
  • Slurry pipelines
  • Design and oversee the construction of pipelines for transporting oil and gas

Research Beyond The Business Plan

Pipeline design includes a selection of the route traversed by the pipe, determination of the throughput (i.e., the amount of fluid or solids transported) and the operational velocity, calculation of pressure gradient, selection of pumps and other equipment, determination of pipe thickness and material
Construction of pipelines involves route survey, ditching or trenching, transporting the pipes, fittings, and other materials to the site, stringing the pipes along the ditch, bending steel pipes in the field to suit local topography, applying coating and wrapping to steel pipes, joining pipes together either before or after they are lowered into the trench (this depends on the type of pipes used), checking for possible welding flaws or leakage at the joints, and then covering trenches by soil and restoration of the land to its original appearance.
As the name implies, pipeline maintenance is simply the practice of maintaining the integrity and functionality of a pipeline and all its associated components. This activity is not a once in a lifetime practice as thorough and frequent maintenance will increase the pipes’ longevity while preventing pipeline failure.
Pipeline Integrity safeguards the pipeline, ensuring all its components are working properly and no harmful chemicals are released from the pipeline. This means, from designing to operating pipelines, everything is reliable, efficient and safe. The pipeline integration can be divided into three parts: Prevention, Detection and Mitigation
